British Airways Personal Statement Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
British Airways - Personal Statement Example In writing my report I researched a lot and looked up various data that was available to me. Such resources include Internet websites, publications, newspaper articles, press releases, etc. Because of the researching that I did my research skills improved as I learnt where and how to look for information and make use of it. For the research I mainly depended on the Internet, as I was able to find plenty of reliable information there. I chiefly looked into journal articles and press releases so as to make sure that my findings are accurate and that it would allow me to write a proper, well defined and an accurate report. Along with this, my writing skills improved because of the fact that in the presenting of this report I learnt how to be specific and to the point, plus how to write a report that would be appealing to the reader. I learnt the way data should be put together in order to form an attractive summary of my findings. In order to find out about the problems that the British Airways is facing I searched for the issues that concern the company and how they affect it. These issues were first identified and then looked into in detail. They included fuel crisis, terrorism and SARS. Due to the fuel crisis high expenses befell the British Airways and thus it lead to a rise in the costs. Also, there was the terrorism problem that caused trouble. The September 11 attacks lead to decreased air traffic (Crou, 2002) and thus a loss for the British Airways, because the people were no longer so comfortable with the thought of travelling by planes. Also, there was then the Afghanistan invasion which also affected the number of flights in a given time period. Apart from this, the SARS issue created disturbance too as it also adversely influenced the air traffic as people were not ready to travel to the affected areas. To combat such problems the British Airways undertook a number of steps. It can also consider merging of the company with another airway such as the Iberia. In order to lower the costs of travelling, which have escalated due to high fuel prices, the British Airways is creating low weight planes so that they use lesser fuel. Plus, the company can reduce its flights; at least those that do not give enough profits. Other than this, the company brought up the plan of voluntary redundancy (Porter, 2005). British Airways also tried to solve their problems by means of technology (Dobson, 2007). Not all their solutions were successful, as is reported in my project. The lesson is that whatever way they handle a situation, it should be made sure that crisis management is undertaken appropriately and that the problems are solved instead of being augmented. This can be done by going in depth of the issues and maybe employing experts and professionals who would be able to help with providing a us eful solution. The research that I conducted I order to write this report had no ethical issues involved that required my attention. This was due to the fact

The future of intrusion prevention Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words
The future of intrusion prevention - Essay Example The reasons for conducting a risk assessment are (Neumann, 1995; Smith, 1993; Reid and Floyd, 2001; Katzke, 1988; Hancock, 1998; Brewer, 2000): new threats, new technology, new laws and new available safeguards. The issue taken for the risk analysis and threat assessment was the students' violent behaviour at school. The aim of the assessment was to identify the next rebel by developing the profile of a typical rebel. To achieve this, a four spiked model of assessment was designed. This model provides a framework for evaluating a student in order to determine if he or she has the motivation, means, and intent to carry out a proclaimed threat. The assessment is based on the sum of the circumstances known about the student in four major areas. Spike 1 (Personality of the student): Evidence to a student's personality can come from observing behavior when the student expresses characteristics like, managing with conflicts, disappointments, failures, insults, or other stresses encountered in everyday life, anger, frustration, disappointment, humiliation, sadness, or similar feelings. Spike 1 (Personality of student): There may be involuntary signs shown by the student about his inclination to violence in his behavior, thoughts or attitudes. The student might often show out frustration and tries to alienate. There is a collection of acts of "injustice" done against him registered in his mind. The student often shows signs of depression such as lethargy, physical fatigue or lack of interest towards any activity performed. He exhibits selfishness and has self-centred thoughts with great inclination towards entertainment filled with violence. He behaves inhumane and has low tolerance levels. Spike 2 (Family Background): The student might have a damaged relationship with parents. He might have easy access to weapons at home, unlimited non-monitored access to the media and internet. Spike 3 (Academic History): The student might have a low tolerance for punishments and bullying at school. He might be with a school having fixed culture with unsupervised computer access. There might little trust with the teachers. Spike 4 (Social History): The student might have companions who have great inclination to violent activities. He might have unlimited access to internet, computer and media. The knowledge of a student and his attitude towards the use of drugs and alcohol too play a vital role. The Intervention Process An effective intervention process by the school would be to manage the threat effectively by taking the following measures: 1. Inform the students and parents of the school policies 2. Appoint a Co-Ordinator for threat assessment 3. Enforcement of law in three levels - low, medium and high - while the intervention at low level would involve interview with the student and parents; the intervention

E.E. Cummings :: essays papers
E.E. Cummings is characteristically American. He is a famous, well known American author. I found that his writing style is of a stereotypical American. What is it to be stereotypically American? Well I found that one of the main things is that you can say or write whatever you want and not feel threatened about if what your saying is the right thing or not. Also a lot of Americans will use sarcasm. Also you donââ¬â¢t have to come right out and say whatever you mean. Some will talk about something completely different then what they are really trying to say. Cummings used a good amount of sarcasm in his writing. He sort of made fun of things in his poems without coming out and saying it. He also doesnââ¬â¢t just come right out and say what he means. I havenââ¬â¢t been able to figure out many of his poems at all. The things he says just makes no sense at all. Even after analyzing his work I havenââ¬â¢t been able to understand what he means. I think that is one thing that most Americans do in one way or another. Cummings also wrote a large amount of poems that probably would have offended people in one way or another. But freedom of speech is one thing that all Americans have. We can say whatever we want and not have to answer to anyone about it. If we were in another country that freedom of speech isnââ¬â¢t allowed he possibly could have been thrown in jail for some of his writings. He was known for his lack of correct punctuation and capitalization in his writings. Very often he would write his name as "e.e. cummings", not even capitalizing his own name. He basically had his own style of writing things even though they were not written correctly. He never followed any of the rules which might have been one of the reasons he was so remembered. He was born in Cambridge Massachusetts. He grew up there and worked at a mail-order publishing company for a short time. He decided to volunteer for the Norton-Harjes Ambulance group in France. He was imprisoned for three months in a French Detention camp. While being there

Money and Its Values Essay
The Big Secret Our intention is to help you open the doors to your own amazing wealth. We will share some of the keys and ancient secrets the wealthy have used for centuries to get ahead and stay ahead. Today we want to tell you the BIG SECRET What is the one thing that determines whether you live a rich, successful life? Is it the school you went to? Well, there are a lot of doctors, lawyers and top tier MBAââ¬â¢s wishing that were true. Is it whether your parents were rich or poor? The history of the world is told, it seems, by those bold and daring folks that came from humble eginnings to make a rich and lasting contribution to the wealth of humanity. Is it what country, station, race, gender or religion you were born to? Gandhi, George Washington Carver, Carrie Nation, Sam Walton, even the Beatles testify to the folly of such thinking. The big secret to wealth is and always has been very simple. So simple in fact that we have for centuries ignored its effectiveness. And when you hear it now, you may be tempted to discount it as a homily or even a remnant of religious thinking. The truth is we use this secret in a very specific and systematic way to become Rich Beyond Our Wildest Dreams. And you can too. Ask and Receive. Thatââ¬â¢s the big secret. You can have anything you want, all you have to do is ask correctly and be willing to receive. It took us from a 2nd personal bankruptcy to a rich and happy life. Regardless of where you start, the simple system we teach can help you live the life of your dreams. Tomorrow we will tell you a few tricks about money. Good Luck and Great Adventures Lesson 2 ââ¬â Money Is Only A Means Most everyone obsesses about money. We all watch the stock market even if we donââ¬â¢t own many stocks. We worry if the Real Estate market goes up or down, depending on whether we own real state or want to buy it. We are overwhelmed with ads for all kinds of financial experts who tell us to put the first 10% of our income away for ourselves first. One friend said, ââ¬Å"I guess thatââ¬â¢s so I can pay the light bill next month. â⬠à And of course we all think we pay the IRS way, way too much. In the book ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m Rich Beyond My Wildest Dreams. I am. I am. I am. â⬠Tom and Penelope say, ââ¬Å"Never, never never ask for money. â⬠How can that be if the world runs on money? Well it doesnââ¬â¢t. Money is our means of exchange. It isnââ¬â¢t a cure for unhappiness or ill health or loneliness. We trade money for things. Thatââ¬â¢s all. Sometimes you donââ¬â¢t even need money. In fact, with the Rich Dreams system you get what you ask for by MEANS over which you have no control. Hereââ¬â¢s an example: Shelly lives in Austin, Texas and was in the process of selling her house. She had a buyer, but the process had taken several strange twists. As a result Shelly was practically homeless. She put all her furniture into storage and moved her family into their travel trailer waiting for her house to close. That was two months ago. Theyââ¬â¢re over the travel trailer, but they need the house to sell to get the funds for a new place. Using the Rich Dreams Success System she wrote the following parameters for her new home. My new home is a two story house. It is in a good neighborhood. It is made of Austin stone. There is a separate guest house for my son. (Heââ¬â¢s 15. ) It has a beautiful view. It is secluded. It has lots of windows. My new home has the proper energy for me to finish my novel. It is easily paid for. My house finds me. I write many books in my house. OK, now hereââ¬â¢s the part that may shock you to your core. Four days after she wrote that list Shelly moved into that exact home. WOW! Four days. And listen to thisâ⬠¦ t literally found her! Without Shellyââ¬â¢s knowledge a friend was talking to another friend who said, ââ¬Å"Oh, I wonder if Shelly would move into my spare house. Iââ¬â¢d feel much better if somebody was in it. â⬠It is a secluded, two-story house in an upscale neighborhood, with a magnificent view, Austin stone, and one whole wall made entirely of glass. In ba ck is a servants quarters for her son and now for the kickerâ⬠¦ I couldnââ¬â¢t believe this one. The owner is a woman author who wrote two very successful books in that house. So Shelly will certainly have the right energy for writing books. Plusâ⬠¦ are you ready for thisâ⬠¦ not only is the house furnished, it does not cost her one red cent. It is totally FREE. Shelly didnââ¬â¢t need money. All she had to do was ask and be willing to receive. What do you want? Use this system and you can have everything you want. Good Luck and Great Adventures Lesson 3 ââ¬â Vacations Are Worth Their Weight In Gold Vacations can be more than a needed break. They can be a great tool for increasing your wealth. When you detach or let go of your day to day problems it gives the Universe a change to make things happen in your life. You donââ¬â¢t have to do it all. Not in this system. In the Rich Dreams Success System we ask and the Universe provides. Delivery is included. But the big trick is letting go, which is why vacations are so incredibly valuable. They are, that is, if you really, truly let go. Vacation time can, of course, be anything but fun. Have you ever waited so long and planned so hard and then lost your luggage or your wallet? So many TV commercials remind us of how terrible it would be to lose something valuable. We spend so much effort and time trying to make the trip perfect that it can never measure up. The family reunion that finally makes us all the perfect family never happens. The Great Getaway that changes our lives forever is mostly fiction. The idea is to enjoy what you do have regardless of the imperfections. I just returned from two weeks away and I can attest to almost falling into those pitfalls. Throughout my time with old friends and family I stayed focused each day. I let God take care of all the details. The real vacation is in the detachment. Each time I started on a new leg of my journey, I took the time to write down particulars about the flight, my luggage, rental car, the works. Then I detached and remembered to breathe a lot. I had a wonderful time for the most part because I didnââ¬â¢t muck it up with unreasonable or unrealistic expectations. To recreate and vacate (leave) truly means that we need to let go of all the control and truly rest. I think vacation time is designed to help us perfect our ability to detach. Fun, rest and relaxation is an essential part of getting everything you want in life. So donââ¬â¢t wait for a vacation to do it. Enjoy every day as much as you can. Donââ¬â¢t wait for that once a year time to recharge and renew. Take some special time for yourself and your family today. Let the Universe take control of your life. Taking real vacations assures that you live everyday rich beyond your wildest dreams. Good Luck and Great Adventures Lesson 4 ââ¬â Anytime Spring Cleaning There is one powerful principle which you can use to speed your success along. It is the Vacuum principle which simply stated says that nature hates a vacuum. That means all you have to do to bring more good into your life is to clear out that which is no longer useful to you. Or as we think of itâ⬠¦ Making Room for Your Good. Rich Dreamers write lists all the time. Have you noticed hat some of the things you have asked for are a little slow in showing up? This may be due to a number of various factors like blocking your good, chemicalization or divine timing. It may however be something very simple. Something a little ââ¬Å"getting rid of the cobwebsâ⬠can fix. If you donââ¬â¢t have room for your good, you need to do some Spring Cleaning. Time to Clean Up and Clear Out! Try cleaning out your personal spaces ââ¬â closets, à cabinets, desks, drawers, garage, basement and gardens. Get rid of old or never worn clothes, household items, toys. If you havenââ¬â¢t used something or worn it in a while, let it go. You donââ¬â¢t need it anymore. At work throw out or store old files and half-finished projects. Doing this activity not only makes you feel fresh and revived, it helps you discover new things that you want. So often we continue to keep things that have lost their usefulness out of habit or a false sense of comfort. The wonder of this is the creation of a vacuum. Nature and the Universe hates a vacuum so now there is room for the new, fresh things that you have requested to rush into your life. Remember that when you do clean up you are digging around in old energies. So you may very well stir up old arguments or ill feelings. A warm shower washes all that far, far away. Are there people in your life that you may need to let go? Could there be friends and acquaintances that you have held on to that you suspect are not for your highest good? We have all experienced this and while it can be painful we usually see the truth of our decisions à in time. We need to be surrounded with positive, affirming ââ¬Å"like mindedâ⬠people who encourage the changes and progress we are making. Release the negative, destructive ones so you can spend less of your energy trying to make those people ââ¬Å"fitâ⬠into your new life and attitude. Activities need to be reexamined too. Do you still feel energized by the way you spend your free time? Are you refreshed by your diversions? Maybe you need to write down some new ideas for fun and relaxation. Remember the last lesson about vacations. We all need and deserve it! While you are cleaning and clearing remember your computer. If youââ¬â¢re like me there are hundreds of à old emails and messages that need to go. Make room for new information and words of encouragement. By doing these simple things you will feel lighter and ready for all the Good that the Universe has to offer. Lesson 5 ââ¬â Divine Timing It doesnââ¬â¢t matter what you want, you can have it. A new car, a home in the country, a slim trim and healthy bodyâ⬠¦ it can all be yours for the asking. The only thing is that you donââ¬â¢t get control over when you get it. Thatââ¬â¢s up to the Universe. Letââ¬â¢s assume youââ¬â¢ve diligently written down your requests. Youââ¬â¢ve seen them in your life and then you detached, but you donââ¬â¢t get everything immediately. So why donââ¬â¢t you get everything you asked for NOW! You want it yesterday, right? What is the hold up! The hold up is youââ¬â¢re probably not ready. Iââ¬â¢d like to share a very personal story about this process. I have been challenged with weight problems since our last child was born, about twenty-two years ago. When we began to write the book, ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m Rich Beyond My Wildest Dreams. I am. I am. I am. â⬠we were in a good weight loss cycle. Tom even mentions that we were lighter and healthier than ever. But as so many other times in my life, I was not able to sustain that ââ¬Å"programâ⬠and over the next five years I lost and gained close to one hundred pounds. I felt like I was asking for this to happen in my life the right way. ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m slim and trim and healthy. I am I am I amâ⬠is a song I sang regularly. I was following all the ââ¬Å"rulesâ⬠of enthusiasm and detachment and still the permanent weight loss alluded me. I never quit desiring this change in my life, but no matter what I did or how hard I tried, no weight loss plan worked for very long. I was embarrassed and frustrated. We were supposed to be examples of success and I felt more like a failure. Like I was doing something wrong. About a year ago I finally let this feeling go and decided I would be happy with who I am. I remember the day, vividly. It was my first day home after emergency surgery, September 11, 2001. Two wake up calls were enough for me. I was happy to be alive and I let go. Of course, once I detached the Universe could go to work. Divine Timing must have kicked in. One morning about six months later I awoke and instinctively knew that this time would be different. The energy for true and lasting weight loss was finally there. Over the course of a few weeks my support system was built. I met the people I was meant to meet and I found a system for me. The Universe provided everything that I need to succeed. The system is, pardon the expression, a cake walk. I have more energy than ever before. I approach exercise as a joy for the very first time in my memory and everyone is seeing ââ¬Å"less of meâ⬠when we meet. Much less of me. The message that I want you to take from my example is this ââ¬â Never give up on your desire, but do give up planning for it to happen on your schedule. Detach and let Diving Timing take over. We know that we have to grow and change and become the person that can handle the desires we seek. Trust the Universe to know the correct time for that to happen. Live your dreams every day. And watch for the first Bonus Lesson 6 coming tomorrow. Call: +234(0)7038710161 Bello John

Research Proposal Nazareth College - 1243 Words
There is no question that our resources on earth such as water, electricity and plastic are limited. As humans, we have begun to realize that we cannot consume these resources at a high rate because if we do our future generations will be left with nothing. A large part of cutting down on resource consumption is practicing sustainability on college campuses. Colleges and Universities around the country are currently attempting to become more ââ¬Å"greenâ⬠or environmentally sustainable. Nazareth College has already begun to take steps towards sustainability with new L.E.D lights and recycling bins around campus, but the college can definitely take more strides towards becoming a more green campus. Nazareth College could improve on becoming a more sustainable campus by creating an atmosphere where students are more involved, limiting resource use in dorms, academic buildings and the dining hall, and by giving students and faculty more incentive to act in ways that are envir onment friendly. Nazareth College must receive interest of sustainability from students to truly succeed in becoming a greener school. Students play a vital role in fulfilling the potential a campus has to becoming environmentally sustainable because they are the main users of the resources on the college. determinants of health Essay - 1371 Words
Health Promotion Essay- The Determinants of Health The determinants of health are economic and social conditions that affect peopleââ¬â¢s health status. These influence the living and working conditions that impacts peopleââ¬â¢s everyday living condition. Factors such as the place and the environment we live in, genetics, educational level or work status and income, as well as friends and family are some of the aspects that affects our health condition. On the other hand, the people that have an access to good health care and have financial stability are less susceptible and are often less affected. (NANB, 2009) There are difficulties and challenges on how to facilitate and what tools to use to resolve the determinants of health such asâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Income and social status is one of the determinants of health. Being able to have a secured, low cost housing that provides for every individual or family during their whole lifetime is a major determinant of heal th and is important to good health. As Dr. David Hulchanski and colleagueââ¬â¢s research ââ¬Å"Three Citiesâ⬠at the University of Toronto stated; ââ¬Å"Housing insecurity is linked to income insecurity which is, in turn, leads to illness and premature deathâ⬠(RNAO,2013). People who live in the street are more susceptible to physical and mental problem and are likely to die early due to sickness compared to general population. Homeless population are vulnerable to communicable diseases and substance abuse and this may jeopardize their health situation (RNAO, 2013). Health conditions become better as income and social status improve. Higher income means the affordability of an individual for a better way of life and providing their family a safe and secured environment. Being able to afford enough nutritious food on the table to share with the whole family is one of the most important things that an individual can hope for. In most cases, higher income and social status means more control and choices in their everyday lives. Poverty Inequality The United States - 1040 Words
Poverty is one of the greatest problems in the United States today. Poverty is the state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or means of support; a condition of being poor.Many people, especially African Americans and children, live in poverty. People in poverty are left to face different social, cultural, physical and mental challenges.The American Dream is to have a well paying job and to be comfortable, but most Americans are forced to live a life of poverty. Although the United States is one of the richest countries in the world, the rate of poverty and income inequality is still relatively high. Economic Inequality is the reason why poverty is increasing, and equal opportunity is reducing. 1 Although social and political inequalities are the main reasons why African Americans are the poorest in the country, economic inequality also has a part to play in this. It is commonly believed that people s negligence make them go into poverty. 2The roles that social, economic and political systems play in affecting people s standards of living are often overlooked.3 Although the equal rights act was passed in 1964, African Americans still do not get the opportunities that white Americans get.4 In the country today, African Americans get lower paying jobs compared to whites.
